CD Description
'Pictures' celebrates the 40th anniversary of British rockers Status Quo. From the psychedelic garage pop of 1968's 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men' through to the 12 bar blues of 'Whatever You Want' - a sound that the band became synonymous with throughout the seventies and eighties - this collection highlights why Status Quo have become one the UK's best loved rock groups. Included is 'It's Christmas Time' the Quo's first ever Christmas song and what also happens to be their 75th single.

Not one for diehard fans
This album isn't aimed at or for Status Quo `diehard' fans, who know every track they've ever record; Nor the sort of person who wants to hear little known B sides, alternative versions of tracks and live performances.
This album is for the occasional fan, the sort of person who enjoys listening to The Quo's better known `commercial' hits.
new to Quo?
Ignore the miseries, this is a really good rockin' album. I have kind of mocked these guys for years - yet having heard this CD I am amazed how many of the tunes I actually know and really like. You'll probably be the same. What more can I say? It's cheap as chips. Give it a listen. Hell Yeh!!!!
Just what the world needs.....
Let's see we've had Twelve Gold Bars Vol 1 then 2, then I&2 together; From The Makers Of...,Rocking All over the Years; Whatever You Want;X-S All Areas; various cover albums and a whole clutch of other best of's or essentials, and now this one. I am really at a loss as to who the Quo think is going to buy it. Any fan will already have at least one of the above and there is nothing on here to intice new fans, best of's never do. If anything it proves that once Coghlan and Lancaster left so did the rocking soul of the band. Disc One is a pretty good reminder of why the Quo became such an essential band during the 70's and early 80's. Disc two is all the reasons why the band became a bit of a joke. The predominately blues based music was omni present in the charts and the Quo could kick out number one albums when such things meant something. That's another problem with this release, in the MP3 age you can sit at home and download your own best of... My guess is that if you bought this as a source album it would never leave the jewel case again. If you really want a definitive collection of quo music then "From The Makers Of.." is probably the best bet. It does cover all the early hits and album tracks together with a live album from the Princes Trust gig at the NEC. The fact that it is over 25 years old says it all really. I'm off to see the Quo later this year as I have every year for the last three decades but really what is the point of this release. What are we going to get next time " The Very Best of the Greatest Hits of the Essential Status Quo" or have we had that one?
