For centuries, Corfu's magnetic beauty has attracted travellers, who have sung the praises of the peacock-hued bays, the hillsides drenched in silvery-green olive trees, and the emerald greenness of the countryside. And when you leave Corfu, these will be your impressions too. While time brings change, the pristine Corfu so beloved of Lear and the Durrell brothers can still be found - this book tells you where. It turns the island inside-out and helps you find a Corfu unknown to most tourists. The book focuses on walking, but it is not intended only for walkers. The car touring section will show you the best of the island, and the picnic suggestions make an excellent introduction to the countryside. There are walks for all ages and abilities on this island, from strolls to beaches to challenging day-long hikes - in the mountains or criss-crossing the plains.

Review
"The real Corfu is not hard to find. The best solution is to buy Landscapes of Corfu. It describes good walks in detail, as well as giving car touring routes, bus timetables, some Greek vocabulary It really is indispensable, because few paths are signposted or waymarked." (Country Walking)"

Customer Reviews
Great to find interesting places
This book is really helpful if you like hiking and enjoy seeing some less touristy parts of the island. It gives good description of interesting hikes and scenery and the maps are helpfull. Most routes are quite long (20 km or more) and most routes are one-way routes(so you can use busses). However if you have a car and prefer to do some shorter hikes (2-4 hrs) it is possible to plan your own routes based on the information in this book.
Excellent for both car touring and walking
I went to Corfu twice, each time I took this book with me. The first time I did all the car tours described in the book and combined some short walks. The second time I did the longer walks and used local transport to get to the start of the walks. In all cases the description was precise. Both walks and car tours take you in remote villages where it seems that time stood still, and very beautiful coastline. I can't immagine haven gone to Corfu without this book
Unfortunately next to useless
Imagine our dismay when following the walk listed on Page 71, starting at Spartiles then following the directions avidly and turning the page to find that Page 72 is a whole page written in German and we had no idea how to continue as the next words in English were on Page 73. There are several pages in the book that are in German and as our family can speak a smattering of French whereas, unfortunately, German is beyond us.
I look forward to receiving a full refund.
