Manufacturer's Description
Panasonic is pleased to introduce the new Lumix 10.1-megapixel DMC-FX35 with astonishing 25mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC lens and 4x optical zoom (equivalent to 25mm to 100 mm on a 35mm film camera), which captures almost double the viewing space at the same shooting distance compared to ordinary 35mm cameras, resulting in remarkable images with unprecedented width and depth.

The Intelligent Auto mode, which comprises various shooting-assist functions, has been advanced for the DMC-FX35 by newly adding the Intelligent Exposure feature and Digital Red-eye Correction in addition to the conventional Mega O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Detection and Quick AF functions.

DMC-FX35 proudly joins. The new DMC-FX35 newly integrates the capability of recording 720p HD (high-definition) motion pictures together with its direct output function, allowing users to enjoy watching both still and motion pictures in impressive HD quality on a large-screen HDTV via an optional component cable.

The high-performance image-processing LSI has newly entered its fourth generation, to be reborn as Venus Engine IV to assure higher-quality pictures with an advanced signal processing system. The DMC-FX35 boasts a 230,000-dot high-resolution LCD with Intelligent LCD function.

All round excellent compact camera now even better value for money5
The Panasonic Lumix FX35 may seem like "just another compact camera" but what impressed me most about this camera is how difficult it was to think of problems with this camera. This camera does almost everything excellently. Image quality is excellent, and despite more noise than average, detail is very good. The camera provides an abundance of features, such as the excellent ultra wide angle lens, that starts at an impressive 25mm and zooms to 100mm. The camera features a very clever "Intelligent Auto" mode and makes using the camera easy, and fun, and provides an abundance of scene modes for beginners. For those looking for more creativity the camera features manual white balance, exposure bracketing, rapid continuous shooting, a histogram, and other image options. Add in an impressive widescreen HD video mode (16:9 Aspect Ratio: 1280x720 30fps) and you have an impressive all-round package, all squeezed into a tiny, stylish, metal camera. Battery life is rated at 290 shots (according to CIPA standards) - I was able to take around 250 shots before the battery went flat. Highly Recommended.

An amazing camera for the price! I have had many different cameras over the years. I wanted something for my daughter for her holiday. This had such incredible quality video and so easy, perfect, photos with the auto intelligent setting. I ended up getting another for myself. At this price they are a steel. How are they going to better this next year. I cant believe they can. Buy it now! It's so simple and the results are fantastic! 25 to 100mm zoom.

    Excellent - but noisy pictures4
I bought this camera mainly because of its size - very easy to fit in a shirt pocket - and its wide-angle capability.
The FX35 has a great, high quality wide angle lens and reasonable zoom. There is not much distortion at either end of the range, the lens really impresses. Build quality is excellent, the case itself is nice and solid, all the controls feel very positive and the hinges on the two flaps seem quite robust. There are a lot of options available through a menu system which is fair but could be more intuitive. Once you're used to it, it's OK though.
The camera takes great, sharp pictures but dark areas suffer from noise even at 100 ISO. The HD video is good (although sound, as you would expect, is pretty average), and therefore I have ended up using it for video more often than I anticipated.
Overall I am satisfied with the purchase but the picture noise is a little disappointing. Nevertheless I have obtained some great photos.
