Product Description

Evil has been unleashed on the world and only five children – with special powers – can save it. Matt and the other three desperately need to find Scar, the final gatekeeper, who has been trapped in Hong Kong, where puddles of water turn into puddles of blood, where ghosts, demons and hideous creatures stalk the streets. Matt has no choice but to follow her. Now, both imprisoned, their only hope of survival is to reach a secret door in the Man Ho temple. But even if Scar can find her psychic power, it may already be too late.

Editorial Reviews

Review
"* "There aren't many writers who in one book can bridge the gap between Enid Blyton, Ed McBain and JRR Tolkein, but it's the kind of challenge that the energetic Horowitz relishes." The Daily Telegraph * "Horowitz is marvellous at getting inside the minds of disenfranchised marginalised teenage boys." The Times"

City of Death5
Anthony Horowitz's penultimate 'Power of Five' novel leaps out of the starting gate and canters to the finish with barely a pause. After the previous book's climactic showdown between Guardian Matt Freeman and puppet of the evil 'Old Ones', chairman of the insidious Nightrise Corporation, Horowitz introduces the final member of the five Guardians: Priveleged public schoolgirl Scarlett. Chosen to protect the Earth from the Old Ones' nefarious schemes, Scarlett gradually becomes aware of who she really is, but not before she's left a trail of death and destruction in her wake.

This story could feasibly be read and enjoyed as astand-alone novel, however I would recommend reading the other three preceding books first. Horowitz's uncomplicated but engaging style makes this a great read, and comes highly recommended for anyone from 8-80.

Horowitz just gets better5
Anthor Anthony Horowitz just gets better and better. This book is amazing, brilliant fantatsic.
I was impressed with Alex Rider but the two new books he has written this year 2008 have been out of this world. I wont spoil the plot but you have got to read this. Note. This is not just for kids this is young adult and adult alike.
The latest books on offer for teen readers is amazing. Keep them coming.

Wow! 5
Wow, I LOVE this book. I bought it and read it in just one day - I couldn't put it down. It also looks as good as it is - a fantastic cover for a fantastic book. Scar is by far my favourite of the five, she is so brave and her power is the most exciting. My bookcase is now so full of Anthony Horowitz books, but I dont ever want him to stop writing! This book is definitely one of his best, and no doubt his next ones will be even better! - is that possible?!
