ticks all the boxes
This is a great little fax/copier machine. Having a cordless phone is great in the office, and the machine is uncomplicated and sleek. I literally plugged it in and started using it without needing to read lengthy instruction manuals. As I said -it ticks all the boxes!
Perfect home fax / answer machine . . .
I had bought a plain paper type machine for home, that came with two dect handsets. Different manufacturer. What a mistake . . . .
I want the fax machine to plug into the ADSL socket in the hall, and I want two dect handsets (one for downstairs, one for upstairs). I DONT want too many instruments plugged in to sockets all around the house (I'm on the limit of my broadband reception, and with sky already plugged in I dont want any other hassles). Okay, so I had to look up the matching dect handset number in the fax machines online documentation, but it wasnt a problem (if you've never done it, its a doddle to pair).
I like:
Its a Pansonic. For phones / answermachines, dont look anywhere else. Really.
It switches between fax/answermachine easily, as you would expect it to (not all do). No intervention required.
There is a flashing (red) light if you have messages. So you notice. You also get the orange light on top the phone flashing too. You will NOT miss the message.
When the phone rings, or you pick it up and press buttons, ALL the buttons light up ! So you can see what they are in the dark / low light (competitor didnt do that !).
When a call comes in, and you dont get to the phone in time and the answermachine picks up, press the answer button on the phone. The answemachine clicks off, and you can talk (the compettitors machine didnt do THAT either).
I dont like:
I'm not a fan of panasonics fax roll concept (instead of inkjet or laserjet). It does work very well (you never get a clogged inkjet for instance). The reason I'm not such a fan is disposal. When you put a new roll in, take the old roll out and unwind it. All your faxes ever received are there, clearly legible, in negative. If privacy is paramount this might be a problem. I am concerned about privacy. Luckily I dont go through many fax rolls in a year. So far I have dropped one in the dustbin, and dropped one on the garden refuse fire. The chances of anyone wanting to rummage through my rubbish and read old faxes should hopefully be low, but . . . .
Overall? Lovely home machine. Does exactly what I wanted. Just wish I'd bought this machine first, instead of that darn competitors machine . . . .
Great Little Machine ...
My requirement is for a cordless phone, answering machine, and occasional fax and copier machine. I've had a few, and they've been complicated and unreliable. So far, this machine is proving the best of all - it's easy to use, it does exactly what I want it to do, and it does NOT:- go wrong, fail, jam paper, have ink cartridges that dry up if not used, etc, etc. It might be a bit expensive if it was used for a lot of printing (either copying or fax receiving), because it uses a roll of inkfilm to print, but I don't use it much for that and it's great.
