Best value receiver providing HDMI audio
What many people may not be aware of is that many receivers that use HDMI cables do not have the ability to transmit audio through the HDMI cable, only video. This is annoying, as you have to run in separate audio cables as well as the HDMI cables. Not so with the Onkyo TX-SR507. Both video and audio are transmitted by the HDMI sockets leading to an absolute minimum of cables running from the unit and 100% synchronisation of sound and picture. This was the main reason I bought it. It was the lowest priced receiver I could find that does this and yet the quality is brilliant. I would highly recommend it and at this level of equipment the price is fantastic
great entry level receiver
does exactly what it says on the box, and then some.
Sure, it would be nice to have some more power, on-screen display and support for 7.1 sound, but how often do you use any of that crap?
entirely satisfied with this little receiver - great value for money.
movies come alive
av amps have come along way in 10 years, from bog standard surround sound to dolby master hi def, this one takes 3 or so weeks to get right, why, because of blue ray, dvd,tv and vcrs having sound systems which are all different,ie sound level. But once set up great with any player 181009 update,I have now had this amp running for 4 months now and still think it is tops, but a few ideas for other buyers,1,let auto setup do its thing, then reset speakers yourself, centre should be plus 8 dbs, front main 6dbs,subwoofer 2 dbs and surround plus 1 dbs, this I found to give best 5.1 sound around the room, just try yourself,2,autosetup put all speakers at minus so many dbs,no good not loud enough,3,distance from sitting area make all speakers including sub same in metres,ok we all have different rooms but this is a good guide, hope this helps you movie buffs out there, will update again in the future
