What a surprise
This is a short review, as the item is typically well made as per Panasonic. It is surprising small and fits into a hand, not perfectly but adequately. The controls are quite easy to use, again people who have owned Panasonic camcorders in the past, will be a little surprised at a new layout - I previously owned a Panasonic Mini-DV which has give me many hours of service. The quality is good but not overly so. Presumably, HD ultra-high quality, has been reserved for the more expensive models - I hope !

I therefore was surprised that this model developed a fault - the lens cover jams ! Quite a surprise from such a dedicated company, renowned for their attention to detail ... not the end of the world, I hear you say but the lens has to be protected on such an item, as it will gather dust because it is portable. My advice? Check your S7 carefully before you buy. (Amazon usually provide an exchange service where if the item is not to your satisfaction, it can be replaced. I was not so lucky however as I used another retailer.)
Overall, I have found the S7 a little disappointing. A pity this little foible with the lens cover, spoiled such an otherwise adequate camcorder.

SD Camcorder
If you want to try a Camcorder for the first time, then this is so simple. Its childs play in automatic mode, and when you get a little more adventurous then it has a lot of great features.
The Video quality on playback through an HDTV or computer screen is really good and the whole thing works very well. My first Video camera, and I'm really happy with it
