Product Description

Technology has advanced greatly in the past twenty years and the use and efficiency of ultrasounds has also increased. Despite this, practical instruction in ultrasounds does not feature heavily in basic doctor training. This in turn leaves many doctors and trainee specialists unsure of how to employ ultrasound for their patients, as well as how to read them properly. "Practical Ultrasound: An Illustrated Guide" is here to solve that problem; packed full of illustrations and scans, it employs a four step practical guide in the use and reading of ultrasounds. Focusing on different anatomical areas and conditions specific to those body parts, each chapter uses a combination of illustrations and scans to provide a step-by-step guide to what to look for and where to find it: step 1 - where to put the probe; step 2 - instructions to operator; step 3 - schematic of what is seen in the scan; and step 4 - the scan. "Practical Ultrasound: An Illustrated Guide" is a must have for trainee radiologists, ultrasonographers and for all of those passing on diagnostic information to patients.

Customer Reviews

Excellent practical handbook for US5
Excellent practical handbook for anyone wanting to learn ultrasound.
Very simple illustartions next to each scan make life easy.
Images and text are together unlike many other radiology books.
Normal appearances are followed by common pathologies.
Will be very useful for those preapring for FRCR 2a and 2b examinations.
A must buy for a ultrasound trainee and practitioner both.

A must have5
A nearly perfect book for learning ultrasound - well written, fantastic pictorials. Cover could be nicer though... However by far the best on the market! If you don't know anything about ultrasound, after that book you will do without feeling exhausted. Also useful as a quick reference before a scan - how on earth do I look for the pancreas again?!

Essential reading for a radiology registrar5
An excellent book that is a core text for all radiology registrars and ultrasonographers alike. Each chapter begins with a useful anatomy section that saves you having to plough through bigger anatomy text books. A practical step-by-step section on how to perform an ultrasound scan is supplemented by some high quality images and handy hints. Then each chapter finishes with a summary of common pathology likely to be encountered. All in all, this book has everything a trainee needs to become competent in learing the skills of ultrasound scanning. Buy it!
