Powerful beyond belief5
When I bought this book about 10 years ago, my neck and shoulders were so tight and painful that I could hardly focus on anything else. Ergonometric adjustments at my desk didn't help. Yoga didn't help. I didn't want to type at all.

Within a few weeks of doing the basic exercises provided in this book, I was beginning to feel relief ... and hope. After a month or so, I was nearly back to 100%. Now, 10 years later, I haven't had any serious problems since in my neck or shoulders when typing. When I feel myself getting tension there, it's a reminder to return to the exercises described in this book. The basic, warm-up exercises are sufficient to help me if I'm in a hurry. They only take about 15 minutes and are easy to remember. They're not a strain in the way some yoga exercises can be. After less than 10 minutes of doing this chi kung, I begin to feel re-energized: that happens almost every time I do them.

Of all the health practices I've tried, this one delivers the most and all through this book. No classes, no mystical grasping of some nameless form. I just did what was described and it worked. Sorry if this sounds too good to be true. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

Very Suitable for the less than fit!5
Ok, I am one of the baby boomer generation and was not as fit and as supple as I used to be. I signed up with a local Chi Kung teacher for weekly classes to improve my back and suppleness. To keep myself going during the rest of the week. I bought this book.

It features Zhan Zhuan (pole standing) which I am now addicted to, and Ba Duan Jin exercises ('eight pieces of brocade')which is more than suitable for someone like myself. I have been doing the exercises and pole standing for 6 weeks and really do feel better - and my back is definitely improving.

I have found many variations on the theme of Chi Kung (or Qi Gong or Qigong) - you pay your money and take your choice. The whole concept of Chi is puzzling, but it is a bit like quantum mechanics - it works but nobody really knows why. However I have found that the exercises are logical and clearly work for me.

The illustrations are very good, the writing is very sensible (no 'new age' gush) and the exercises do NOT require you to be an Olympic athlete!

One of the best books I have bought

I'd give it ten stars if i could.5
I can't describe how glad i am that i bought this book. I began studying it nine months ago and I've kept it going everyday since. It has given me so much energy, calmed me down and got rid of my sinus problem (which i'd had operations and all sorts for).

The concept of 'Chi' probably sounds outlandish to the western mind but whatever these exercises do they make you feel good. Ive heard scientific explanations which sound reasonable - that it is increased nerve activity and better circulation. Again whatever it is, it works!

I went to see Master Lam for a private class and i was really impressed. He's a very earthy, friendly man and the advice he gave me was well worth trekking down to London for.

If you have any problems with lethargy, stiffness, poor health - definitely give this book a try.
