Best Book In The Series So Far5
The writing of the Shifters series has improved with every book. It's grown up along side Faythe, and Prey is easily the best so far. Not only within the series, but it's one of the best books I've read so far this year.

Faythe is well out of her comfort zone here, without the ever present support of her lover Marc, she is forced to be the strong one and lead the hunt for him. Knowing all along that they're more likely to find a body. She's got to deal with Manx's trial, a rebellious teen tabby, Kaci, who refuses to shift and her Pride in on the verge of war with several others.

One of the greatest aspects of the Shifters series is that the characters are far from perfect, making them easy to relate to. And no matter how much the characters grow and change in to the people they're becoming, they still have flaws. They're still real. Faythe shows a great deal of maturity throughout Prey, truly showing us the extent of her potential for the first time. But it doesn't stop her from making mistakes. The one character who arguably shows more development than Faythe in this, is Jace, which came as a bit of a surprise, but a very welcome one.

Prey is heartbreaking in places, and I'm sure there are many, many people none to happy about certain aspects, but everything has it's place and reason. It pulls no punches and is all the better for it. The plot is tight, with the subplots carefully weaved in to create a pretty prefect balance. There is no filler here. There are plenty of twists and turns, catching you by surprise on more than one occasion, and I was left hungry for more come the end.

Ms. Vincent stated that Prey 'would change everything' and it certainly has. I think just about anything can happen now in book 5, Shift, and I can't wait to see what that is.

A Really Good Werecat Story5
If you liked the first 3 books in the series the odds are you'll love this one. However be warned, start reading it when you haven't got anything urgent to do for a day or so.

This one starts a couple of months after the last book "Pride" ended. Her delicious boyfriend Marc is in exile so there is less romantic action than in the other books. However, Jace plays a larger part in this book and becomes a more interesting character.

In the background pride werecat politics feature strongly again with rival alphas vying for power as do the stories of the two tabbies, Manx and Kaci, introduced in the last two books. However the main story is a rollercoaster of mystery, action and sorrow.

The one small criticism I have, is that the story like Stray is very reminiscent of one of Kelly Armstrong's werewolve stories. However, there are a lot of differences and it is so well written that this doesn't really detract from the enjoyment of reading the book.

The story ends well enough but at the same time left me really wanting to read the next book as soon as it becomes available.

Absolutely thrilling and the best Werepanther yet5
This was totally unputdownable and I can't recommend it enough! The Faythe sanders series just goes from strength to strength and this one was a rollercoaster ride of action and emotion.

This is the fourth in the series so if you haven't read any of Rachel Vincents were-work please read them in order. the storylines develop across the books and you won't get maximum enjoyment if you read them out of order. Book 1 is Stray. 2 is Rogue and 3 is Pride then this one is number 4.

This story sees dramatic changes in Faythe's life, including regret, death of loved ones and a resulting growth of responsibility. The reason i love this series so much is like the very best Urban Fantasy (and i'm thinking Kim Harrison, Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs here)it pays respect to real life issues too- specifically politics, women's rights and familial expectations alongside the supernatural shenanigans.

I can't give too much away without plot spoiling but following a huge ambush and fight near the start, the abduction of Marc, Faythe's lover and a plot to take control of the teritory owned and controlled by the South Central pride this puts Faythe front and centre in some extreme situations from which some of the regular characters don't survive. Put time aside to read this as you'll want to finish it quickly. This is one to devour. Thanks, Ms Vincent- your work is quality through and through. What could have been either a 'marking time' novel as the set up for a cataclysmic were-war or a rush job encompassing set up and denoument was neither. this was a thrilling installment in its own right but also an accomplished set up for what i hope will be an even bigger and better volume.Bring on part 5- I smell a humungous battle.
