Helped me greatly
FINALLY, my Son was diagnosed at aged 5, i have read many books before the diagnosis- with a strong history in the family and the huge difference between him and my other children, I was advised to read this by the Paed. Reading this is like reading a book based on my son, for any parent, I have also recommended it to friends that children do not have problems to highlight struggles these children have. I have also recommended it to friends of friends whose favourite hobbies are to 'tut' and judge. A good read.
An Excellent Book
I don't have a kid with ADHD but I do work with children and I found this book insightful and useful. Chapters include;- The Facts, The Cause, Parenting, Diagnosis, Solutions, Therapies & diet, Medication, Sport.
Understanding ADHD: PArent's Guide to understanding ADHD in Children
I couldn't believe it, I found a book written about my son. He was diagnosed with ADHD in 2003 and I was told about this book by the consultant. It is full of useful advice. What works and what doesn't, and helps us to feel competant able parents again. He can't help his behaviour and we can with support live a reasonably 'normal' life.
I would thoroughly recommend that any parent or carer whith a child who has ADHD reads this book.
