Amazon.co.uk Review
This freewheeling parody tosses horror movies, Eminem, The Matrix, and much more into a cinematic blender. Scary Movie 3 centres around Cindy, a bubble-headed young newscaster who believes that a deadly videotape has some mysterious connection to the aliens who've been making crop circles in the cornfield of a local farmer (Charlie Sheen), whose brother hopes to win a local rap contest. Along for the ride are Queen Latifah, George Carlin, Anthony Anderson, Pamela Anderson, Jenny McCarthy, Jeremy Piven, Camryn Manheim, Ja Rule, dozens of rap stars, and Leslie Nielsen as the President of the US. There's no need to have seen the first two Scary Movie flicks--though a few of the characters recur, the movie leapfrogs from gag to goofy gag, plundering The Ring, Signs and The Others as needed. It's silly and slapdash, but with a decent dose of laughs. --Bret Fetzer, Amazon.com

Customer Reviews
Much better than I expected.
I saw Scary Movie 1 and 2 but didn't like either, particularly the original film. So I was not exactly looking forward to seeing this movie, but I am happy to say that it is much better with some really good moments in it.
It seems much less crude to me, though that may just be my imagination, and this helped a lot. The plot was quite clever and a lot of the jokes were good. Often in these films the jokes are more hit than miss. I saw 'Reposessed' and that was truly terrible, very embarassing and almost none of the jokes worked. I was expecting the same for 'Scary Movie 3' but happily it was not the case.
Leslie Nielsen appears in the film and is not too bad. Ever since the 'Naked Gun' movies he only seems to be in poor to average movies which is a shame as he can be really funny. He was very bad in 'Reposessed', probably his worst ever. Happily he doesn't have too big a part in this. When is he going to find a worthwhile film.
The bonus material was also worth seeing, including a completely different alternate ending. It genuinely was a totally different ending, drawing heavily on 'The Hulk' and 'The Matrix.'I prefered it to the ending used in the film. There were a couple of reasonable documentaries and some good outtakes.
I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this film, though it might partly have been because I was wasn't expecting much.
BETTER THAN SCARY MOVIE 2...
"Scary Movie 3" parodies a number of scare flicks. Viewer who have seen certain movies, such as "Signs", "The Ring", and "The Matrix", will better understand some of the jokes and sight gags around which the thin story line revolves. Unfortunately, the film loses some of its focus, as it digresses into a parody of Eminem's film "8 Mile", which is not a scary movie. Still, the movie has an impressive cast, boasting such luminaries as Pamela Anderson and her pneumatic breasts, Jenny McCarthy, Charlie Sheen, Camryn Manheim, Jeremy Piven, Anna Faris, Simon Rex, George Carlin, Queen Latifah, Leslie Nielsen, Simon Cowell (as himself), and a whole slew of music stars, including Macy Gray ( as herself).
The plot line is quite thin, however, as it revolves around a cute, air headed reporter, Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris), who is interested in the crop circles found on the farm of a former clergyman named Tom (Charlie Sheen), who lives on the farm with his brother, George (Simon Rex), a budding would be rapper. Cindy believes that the aliens who made the crop circles have a connection to a mysterious video tape that ensures the death of its viewer within seven days. The President of the United States (Leslie Nielsen) becomes involved in this falderal, when alien invasion seems imminent.
This movie is not for everyone. It has some really funny moments, such as Simon Cowell's turn as a music critic in a rap club, where he finally gets his just desserts. Queen Latifah is terrific as "The Oracle", as is George Carlin as "The Architect". Leslie Nielsen reigns supreme as our daffy president. The interjection of a Michael Jackson look-a-like is pretty funny, though I am sure Michael Jackson himself would disagree, as the pedophile innuendo is, indeed, a little jarring. One of the children in the film, Cody (Drew Mikuska), who has a number of funny moments due to his ability to read minds, is likewise subject to a lot of outright physical violence in the movie, a concept that I found very disturbing and not at all funny.
There is, however, quite a bit of slapstick and a lot of sight gags. Everything is fair game. I think that the movie would have been a lot better had it kept its original focus and not digressed into a parody of "8 Mile", as it diluted the premise of the film. This film is almost as funny as the first Scary Movie and funnier than the second one, though that is not saying much. Everyone gives excellent performances. The problem with the film is that it ends up being neither fish nor fowl. So, it ultimately is not as good as it should have been, given the cast with which it is blessed. The bottom line is that one should rent this film before buying it.
A good spoof!
I think this is a pretty good funny film. As with most spoofs some of the jokes are very good but some are not funny, always a bit hit and miss. However the majority of the jokes do work in this. It mainly spoofs The Ring, Signs, as well as 8 mile, Matrix and Sixth sense. It has a great cast with spoof masters Charlie Sheen and Lesile Nielsen, with cameos from Jenny McCarthy, Pamela Anderson and Denise Richards. It's better than the 2nd film and as good as the first, with less gross out humour.
There are plenty of extras, around 30min making of which is pretty good. Lots of deleted scenes, 23mins worth, including a alternative ending which is possible better than the real ending. There are also some out takes and a real making of. Overall a very good package if you enjoy a good funny film or a fan of spoofs you should get this!
