The best Spanish pop band around
If you have been to Spain on holiday you´ve almost certainly heard songs by these two brothers, one of the most popular and enduring pop acts over the last five years.
These two used to work on the production line at the Ford car factory in Malaga, the excellent,"pastillas de freno," (try and see the video,) is a humouress recollection of this.
When I lived in Spain they were the only band I liked immediately. The songs are inventive and have a sense of humour. These boys represent blue collar Spain and nearly everyone, young and old identifies with them. They make pop music what it should be; fun. Everything is done with a lot of energy and smiles. The two standout tracks for me are the hit,"Fuente de Energia," and "Tragicomedia." You don´t need a grasp of Spanish to appreciate this and the stomping rhythm changes more than make up for their lack of singing ability.
Put simply, Estopa make infectious music to jump up and down to.
This album doesn´t quite scale the heights of the earlier ones but anything by Estopa is head and shoulders above anything else in Spain. I don´t usually listen to this type of music and I really found it difficult to cope in Spain´s ubiquitous pop bars at first. Estopa made the transition a lot easier.
