How to raise your self-esteem
I did not find this book helpful at all.
The book does not contain "an approach / technique" to raising your self-esteem. It is purely about case studies. Listening to people's stories does not help raise self-esteem. There are better books on self-esteem. I would not recommend this book.
Self Esteem still not right....
As far as I'm concerned the guy who wrote this thinks that your self esteem must be low because either:
1. Your parents didn't love you enough as a child, or
2. You were abused as a child.
It then tells you to get in touch with your "child self" and have a chat to him about how bad you feel. Exercises include finishing sentences such as, "When I was a child I...", and end with, "I am now beginning to feel...."
If this sounds like your cup of tea, go for it. I myself couldn't recommend it any less if all the pages were completely blank. No help whatsoever.
Stands out from the crowd
I have only read half of this book but already have no hesitation in recommending it. It stands out from the crowd. The author is writing from his experiences as a psychotherapist - and by all accounts he must have been quite successful. There are exercises to perform which are not too demanding but give you a good insight into your relationships, success at work and areas to improve on. I've already highlighted areas to concentrate on and feel very positive. We need more books like this - by professionals with real experience who know what they are talking about.
