I brought this to replace my damaged tom tom lead, and looking at the picture shown for this product I thought I was buying a genuine tomtom charger as it looks identical to my original.

Received today only to find that the product is a substandard compatible charger.

Only buy this if you are after a cheap COMPATIBLE charger for the tomtom range.

I should REALLY have known better!
This is a substandard generic piece of rubbish which, despite all the complaints I have NOW read, is still being allowed to be sold by Amazon (but hey, what do THEY care!) - the picture is of the GENUINE charger; but that's not what you get, is it?

The charger is not only substandard, in terms of build construction and general quality, it isn't even RATED correctly (which in my opinion, makes it dangerous). The Tomtom charger is rated at 5v 2amp - this piece of rubbish would struggle to supply 500ma.

There is no angled USB plug as on the original which means there is undue strain on the connector of the Tomtom, which I believe could damage it.

All told - a disaster.

I intend to make a formal complaint to Amazon with a view to getting a FULL refund (including postage costs) as the item is substantially not as advertised; they ought to know better than to continue to sell the item after so much adverse comment. Sadly, I trusted the (amazon) brand instead of checking the feedback; it has served me well in the past, but I will be MUCH more careful in future. A bond of trust has been broken between vendor and purchaser; that cannot be reforged, Amazon.

This is very cheap and arrived very quickly. The product I received is fine but it is not like a Tomtom charger or like the picture. It is a coiled cable not a straight one as in the picture so it is far shorter than a true Tomtom charger cable and will not allow you to position your Tomtom in the same way. Other than that, it does the job and doesn't feel cheap and nasty. I just can't charge my Tomtom and have it in the position I normally have it (on the windscreen near the side window) because it's not long enough and cannot be positioned around the steering column.
