Customer Reviews

Rather Boring !2
Unfortunatly we read 2 others excellent books (purchased here on Amazon) on Photoshop Elements v5.00 prior to reading this one. I think that reading the other slightly more advanced books spoilt us. This book is designed for getting very basic knowledge of all the buttons and tools, but you would get that anyway but simply exploring the software. No tutorials to read, just basic information that appears to go on and on. Around about half way through it's 370 pages it just got very repetitive. This does that and that does this. There are examples written in the book but not a lot of detailed explanations as such. The section on 'Gradients' (a very powerful Element 5 tool) was a prime example of a powerful section lightly skipped over. There was not a lot of pictures either come to think of it, just thumbnails. It's really all about written comments that only just touch the surface. Can't really say that we would recommend this book at all.

As you would expect with this type of book it's well presented but just so boring. For digital photograph novices such as myself when you own such a powerful piece of software such as Photoshop Elements 5 you need to be told 'HowTo' do things as the software is just so versatile. It needs to be explained how the Authors arrived from this to that. A 'before and after' thumbnail picture view is simply not good enough for this software. Never learnt a single thing from this book at all. All IMHO of coarse.

Photoshop Elements 5 for Dummies5
This is a substatial Tome and will take a lot of learning by this 74 year old. However every section is clearly contructed to give the best advice and following on from the title is written for this "Dummy"

Elements Bible4
An excellent book and essential reference for any Photoshop Elements user. Shows (rather than "tells") you how to do everything possible using the software programme. If you have Elements then get this book!
