Amazon.co.uk Review
Based on the best-selling novel from Cecelia Ahern, P.S. I Love You is far more than the standard chick flick that it may first appear to be. Relocating the novel from Ireland to America, multiple Oscar-winner Hilary Swank stars as the young woman who has recently lost her husband. And yet amidst her grief, she discovers a series of letters that he’s written to help. These letters give her certain things she has to do, to help her move on with her life.
It’s not a completely clean adaptation of the book, and yet P.S. I Love You has more than enough in its tank to qualify as a good, quality bona fide weepy. Swank in particular is a terrific actress, and delivers another worthy performance here. Credit too to Gerard Butler (Phantom Of The Opera, 300) for his work as her late husband.
The film does have a few problems. It meanders a little, and its running time could use a little pruning. Yet nonetheless P.S. I Love You is a well made, engaging drama, and likely to be responsible for a fair bit of blubbing among its target audience by the time the credits roll. Worth a look. --Jon Foster

Ps what a bad film
Do knock it and what ever you do dont try it!
This film is awful. I bought it for my GF (cause im a thoughtul guy )to watch as like most women she loves Romcoms and I thought this would suit her down to the ground.
Hillary swank and Gerard Butler are about as delightful a couple as Margaret Thatcher and David Beckham and their acting is as stale as my crusty socks. I cringed at many of the supposed sentimental scenes between the two main actors in this film and so did my GF. And if anybodies heartstrings are being tugged at in this film, please contact your local emergency services as you are more than likely having a heart attack. But jokes aside, this film lacks even a remote amount of emotion.
The irish accents are just bad bad bad.
The film is full of performances youll want to forget, romance thats as romantic as a candle lit dinner in a sewage works, and comedy as funny as Roseanne Barr dressed as Ghandi. You really shouldnt waste your money or precious time on this film, me and my GF did and its time and money we will never get back.
I always try and give honest reviews and feel that this 2 hour long film has been given just that. Its just a bad movie
Ps. you have been warned.
OK, not so bad
I watched this with my girlfriend. It was her favorie film when it was in the cinema.
I have to admit that I watched it not wanting to watch it.
To my shock it didn't suck.
Nothing against any fan of the film or book but the idea didn't attract me too much. I could kind of guess how it would end and I was right.
The idea was good, the extra with and intervie with Celia Ahern were great. James Bland, sorry, Blunt (not a fan)song is on it and the video does follow the film, kind of.
The only thing I couldn't get passed was Gerald Butler. Apart from an irish accent that rivals Ton Cruise's, I kept waiting for him to kick someone down a large pit. But some how "This Is Ireland!" wouldn't sound too good.
On the whole I found this film touching and very Chick Flick freindly, a good watch even if a little obvious in places.
Brilliant!
I saw this movie for the first time tonight. Having not read the book I didn't know entirely what to expect.
I laughed and I cried. This movie in my opinion is one of the best chick flicks out there. I totally loved it.
The only thing that didn't work for me was Lisa Kudrow (from the series friends). I just felt that I didn't feel her part in the movie. She is the only criticism I have of it. But that is just my opinion.
