Great fan.. and quiet! :)
It's a great-looking fan, nice blue LEDs, and the best thing for us is that it's dead quiet, meaning we don't have much trouble sleeping with it switched on. Worth the extra cash over other fans.
If you're interested, there's a demo of it on YouTube; search for 'Bionaire Tower Fan BT90R-IUK' and you'll find it.
Cool, in more ways than one!
Well... summer is here again and, although it usually only lasts for 3 or 4 days I thought it would make sense to buy a fan ahead of time rather than waiting until the heat REALLY set in. I opted for this one because I already have a large box fan that I use for when I'm drumming, and it's very noisy so I wanted to avoid a box fan this time.
The reason I picked this particular model was because... well... I'm a bit of a geek! It's got shiny black bits on it, bright blue LEDs on the control panel, it has a neat little eject button which slides open the top area (on a slow eject) to reveal a nifty little remote control. That was why I bought it.
Why am I so happy with it?! Because it's QUIET, it throws out lovely cool air, it has three different speed settings, you can set it to oscillate and it's STILL quiet. There are many reasons why I would buy this from a geek point of view, but there are more reasons to buy it if you want to be kept cool.
This is for the bedroom, so the most important thing is the noise factor. It's all very well to want to stay cool at night but if you can't sleep because of the noise then there's no point. The box fan sounds like a jet engine sitting in neutral all night whereas this Bionaire is very quiet. It's not silent... it couldn't be, because of the very nature of how fans work, but it's certainly quiet enough to let you sleep soundly even with the fan on the highest level.
There's another little feature called "natural breeze" where it randomly goes through the various speed and oscillation settings to generate a realistic feeling breeze. I was sceptical because I thought "well it's hardly going to feel realistic" but it kinda does. There are times when you're just getting a brief breeze and then there are times where it's a little stronger and cooler so yeah, I'm impressed by it.
I'm now considering buying one for the office... just in case we have more than four days of summer this year. Hardly likely though, so I'll wait a while!
UPDATE
-----------------
I bought another one! It was THAT good, that I ended up wishing I had another one for my office rather than my noisy desk fan. Thanks to Amazon Prime's next day delivery, my dream of a cool work environment became a reality the following day. I can't say enough good things about this fan... it's the first review I've ever followed up on!
Great - at first
This was a lovely fan at first. I was really impressed by the different modes and by how quiet it was. However, after about 6 months it started to rattle when oscillating and now it's over a year old it rattles whatever mode I use it in.
