Very good book
The author presents a hard-nosed, no-nonsense report of what you need to succeed in the speaking business. Compared to the touted "best-seller" in the field, this one's tops. No conspicuous self-promotion here. Pure advice, page after page. Author sometimes assumes too much of the reader, almost as if he's "talking shop" and you're expected to understand. Not enough to be distracting. Worth a second read.

A Pro Speaker's Primer & then some....
Best book I've read on the business of professional speaking. Shoots holes in some of the traditional sacred cows (it's about time). Very thought provoking--for both beginning and established pro speakers. Weiss even covers that secret topic of actual specific dollar fees! As a professional speaker, I am pleased to heartily recommend this book to others.

Having been a professional speaker for nearly 20 years, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Alan debunks popular myths about the profession, and tells it like it really is. A must read for anyone considering entering the speaking business, as well as for those who've been around.
