Definitely useful
Aside from the increasingly frequent typo's, this book was engaging and delivered what I expected: useful, clear information on how to develop as a professional speaker.

The sections on speaking abroad (a US reader is assumed) and using the internet are outdated, but this is almost inevitable - and the other topics covered - marketing, promotion strategies, working with speaker bureau's - contain plenty of practical guidance. Definitely worth buying.

THE BEST ON PAID SPEAKING
This is the best and most complete book on Professional Speaking. I have read books from others in this field and Dottie is the only one that has actually done EVERYTHING that she writes about. She IS a Speaker, Author, Consultant, Speakers Bureau Owner and Seminar Leader. Nobody else has achieved what she has in every aspect of the speaking business like Dottie has.

Good but not as hot as I thought it would be because ...
... I had read and love Napoleon Hill's "Think & Grow Rich". So I had an outcome / change of state in mind before I picked the book up

Based on the personal experience of reading Napoleon Hill's book, I was expecting a read that would give me the same kind of road-map. While the book is good, personally I didn't come away with the "buzz" I expected

A totally subjective view and probably a good read for anyone fairly new to speaking
