An exciting strategy game5
I have played a few games of this board game, and I have to admit that it is amazing. The luck factor is fairly important but a good player will be able to do very well no matter how unlucky he is. The game last for at least 2 hours (4-5 players) and can get close to 3 hours (or maybe more). The good thing is that you can easily agree to end the game in the next round or so (and not spoil the game) if time becomes an issue.

The goal is to get as many points as possible. You do that by transferring goods between cities and by fulfilling various goals on mission cards. One of the most important aspects of the game is building a good rail network. The financial aspect of the game is also very different and interesting. You start with no money, and can get as much money you want by issuing shares. Of course the more shares you issue the more you have to pay the shareholders at the end of the year (turn).

Highly recommended for people who likes strategy board games and can find people to play with (I would not recommend less than 4 players)

This is my favourite board game5
This game is brilliant. The rules are very simple in comparision to many other board games and can be explained pretty quickly to new players, but they will understand it more as the game goes on. When i first played Railroad Tycoon i absolutely loved it and at first me and my friends played it a ridiculous amount and actually had to stop ourselves from playing it so we didn't become bored with it. Personally i don't think that would've happened but hey, you can never be too careful. I would recommend this game to anyone. I haven't played it with any younger relatives but i'm pretty sure that if you had children of about 10 or older they would understand it easily enough. The presentation of this game is excellent and the board is huge. So huge that it comes as 3 separate pieces. The set up of the board will take about 5 minutes or so once you know what you're doing and then the fun begins! One of the reasons i love this game is that unlike all the other games i have or have played, (Risk, Monopoly, Alhambra, Settlers of Catan, Carcossone, Serenissima) there is no luck at all. You get to decide everything! At the beginning of the game you have to take a share option on your business that gives you money to get you going. Then there is a bidding war to see who goes first. So if you see an obvious starting place and you're willing to pay for it then you can take as many share options as you want to win the bidding war. Or you might be happy to sit back and save yourself the headache of paying for it later. Once you take a share option you have to pay a certain amount off every turn, so they are risky but they ensure that if you have run out of money on your turn, you always have the option of taking another one and using it straight away. Therefore not wasting your turn. I cannot stress enough how important that is, there IS ALWAYS something you can do. Unlike some of the games mentioned above, that are great but do rely heavily on dice rolling or other random events. It is fun too because if somebody races into an early lead then nearly every time i have played it all the other players team up to try to catch up and keep the game going. Just make sure you start early because this can be a very long game. Even if you aren't into board games that much i can recommend this, it's simple, tactical and great fun.
