Manufacturer's Description
This new route for Microsoft Train Simulator lets the PC train driver control a train on the historic and beautiful Swanage Route in the county of Dorset. The route covers the former LSWR branch from Wareham to Swanage which the Loco driver can discover with four new drivable steam and Diesel engines.
A Preserved Railway in Southern England.
The Swanage Route - Today the southern half of the route, between Swanage and Norden, is the preserved Swanage Railway, while the northern section, as far south as Furzebrook, is part of the National Rail network and serves an LPG terminal. The route has been modelled as it is today, but with the two sections of line joined together to allow through running from Swanage to Wareham. In addition to the branch, the Swanage Route also includes 5 miles of main line towards Poole and Bournemouth. The add-on comes with over 30 very accurately designed stations and request stops and gives a real example of the charm of the landscape and its typical buildings and towns in this part of the country. The Trains - The Swanage Route contains 4 driveable locomotives with custom sounds and cabs and a further 3 locomotives without cabs (for use in computer-controlled services or as helper locomotives). Route Activities - The Swanage Route also includes 23 realistic activities set in three different eras - 1960s, present day and in the near future.

The best add on yet
I got this simulator about 2 months ago and havent stopped playing on it since. It is fantastic.
It includes the preserved part of the line between Swanage and Norden and also and extra 3 miles of line before joining the mainline at Worting Junction. The next station is wareham followed by Holton heath which is the end of the line for this fantastic simulation.
It has realistic noises such as Cockerels, Church bells, car engines and a man trying to start his tractor. Also in the scenery is a man taking his cows to milk , and you can also see Corfe Castle on the hill.
The locomotives are as follows:
34028 'Eddystone' West Country class Pacific
35027 'Port Line' Merchant Navy class Pacific
30053 M7 Class tank
Class 108 DMU
Three non - driveable locomotives are:
Battle of Britain Class
Standard class 4 tank
Class 60 Diesel
The cabs are excently detailed with fully functional controls and levers.
Overall the best add-on yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just like the real thing
You would think that a four year old add-on like this would have become unpopular over the years because there are many other newer add-ons which feature better detail than a lot of older add-ons. You would however, be very wrong indeed.
Swanage Route is certainly one of the best add-ons available (that feature a preserved railway), in the county of Dorset, running from Swanage to Wareham and then on to Holton Heath, including 7 very detailed stations. The locomotives and rolling stock are very detailed, with brilliant sounds, passenger views and cab views. Included in this add-on are steam engines and a Class 108 DMU. Me... I prefer the steam locos but the Class 108 is great fun to drive as well. I've been on the line before, going from Norden to Swanage and return, in 2006. This add-on is just like the real thing, with realistic noises such as cockerels, which you will hear along the route, and church bells at Norden station. There are enough activities to keep you going for a good few weeks at least, these are set in three different eras: 1960s, 2003/2004 and today (2008). This really is a must have add-on for any fan of preserved railways, steam locomotives, the old First Generation DMU, and beautiful scenery. Recommended.
