This is a very practical and readable guide with a wealth of information for anyone interested in techniques for handling a narrowboat on the UK canals. It is primarily aimed at those who are cruising single-handed, but is also useful for two. It is also just very interesting to get an insight into the effect of the shape of the canal bottom on handling, of water currents in double locks, efficient locking technique, the differences in handling a deep-draft working boat, and all other related technicalities. Beginners will find it interesting, and experienced boaters will still pick up some new tips.
