Another great read from a writer we should ALL read
Any fan of Zombie or apocalyptic fiction should read Anthony Giangregorio. And this book would be a great starting place for the uninitiated.
The story revolves around a few "Lucky" survivors of a devastating plague in Chicago and their journey to stay alive whilst the rest of the city is in chaos.
If you liked Stephen Kings Cell and / or Simon Clarks Blood Crazy then you`ll love this.
An excellent read.

Un-original Plague
We have a couple of survivors battling against the odds and a "smart zombie" leader out to reek havok. That about the depth of it. The characters aren't developed in any shape or form, and you can nearly predict who is going to be zombie fodder. As for the dialogue in it, some of it is terrible. And moments of dodgy writing, such as this thrown in randomly on page 125:
"Bill walked down the centre aisle between the cages, staring at some of the animal carcasses. He had always had a soft spot for animals, and his late wife Laura had always teased him that he had a heart of gold."
...just moments like that, which didn't read right in the context of the story left me lost. I prefer my zombie stories more in the George A Romero vain. This smart zombie leader thing is a really over the top, and the way he is described is camp and laughable.
On the good side, if you like rape, torture and murder Richard Laymon style this might be up your alley.
fast action, very formulaic.
An enjoyable read, somewhere around a cross between King's 'Cell' and well King's 'Cell. Readable enough, despite some slightly lacking editing and a couple of characters, especially Bruce, who just magically appear in the dialogue. Pure pulp fiction, but admittedly done a lot better than some of these self published adventures.
In summmary, if survival horror is your sort of thing and you'd like to imagine what it was like for the average Joe in Racoon City, read it. If your looking for a ground breaking post apocalyptic story, with masses of intellectual prose, character development and ground breaking ideas, don't (and if you are please don't read The Road either!)
