From the Publisher
There is a passion for travel and discovery at Footprint that has been reflected in our publishing since the South American Handbook was first published back in 1924. More than 80 years on, our aim is still simple: to give travellers a refreshingly different view that helps them to follow their own route and have a unique, memorable experience. Over 100 current guides reflect the many ways in which people enjoy independent travel; whether exploring ancient sites, seeking an adrenalin-filled adventure or relaxing on the beach, our authors do all they can to bring our customers the very best of each destination we cover.

About the Author
West Australian Katrina O’Brien studied journalism in Perth before travelling in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Several years in book publishing taught her the value of a deadline and how to understand authors. She lived in England for four years before the longing for sunshine and space became too strong and she returned to Australia to become an author herself. After two years on the road researching the guide, and an idyllic stint in Kalbarri (WA), writing Footprint West Coast Australia, Katrina moved to Sydney where she now works as an editor and is currently writing a guide to Sydney walks.
Inveterate Aussiephile Andrew Swaffer travelled and worked on and off for several years around parts of Asia, Australia and New Zealand while attempting to hold down various jobs in book publishing in the UK. Australia was always his first love and so after working in the sales department of Footprint for a year he went on a two-year odyssey of epic proportions to write his part of the guide. Andrew now juggles the dual roles of his co-author of Footprint Australia and Footprint West Coast Australia with a marketing position at Footprint’s Australian distributors in Sydney.
Customer Reviews
A useful guide to Western Australia
The guide's information on the places we visited was first rate and the information on eating out was particularly helpful. We took three guide books to Western Australia in January 2005 (one each) but soon found that the Footprint book gave the best information on restaurants. The restaurant reviews were very accurate and there was only one that did not live up to expectations.
