Customer Reviews
For very tiny tots
I bought this book and Faces(Baby's First Book) when my little girl was about 9 weeks old. The book contains pictures of a bottle, horse, sail boat, duck, buttons, beads, bird and a flower. Of the two books this one was only looked at occassionally by my little girl (even though it was in her cot all the time) and as the book is shiny and a hard back, now that she is grabbing for things at 18 weeks old this book is not of much interest to her. If you are looking for a book for a very young baby (up to about 17 weeks) then get a black and white book, but I would recommend the Faces book as this was the one that she liked the best and as it is cloth she is using it to develop her hand coordination skills.
Hours of amusement for the youngest babies
We've had this book since by daughter was born 9 weeks ago. She's been drawn to the images ever since and we've noticed she especially loves the pages with buttons and the flower.
I think that by alternating on which side of her baby gym we placed the book, open for her to gaze at, she's been encouraged to look at objects on both sides (as many babies tend to favour one side of their head more than the other).
We bought this alongside the 'faces' first book. Both have been excellent so far. I'm hoping she'll use the books to turn the pages once she gets a little more control over her hands!
Defintely a worthwhile first book,
Many better options out there
This book is by no means a disaster, but our baby found it much less interesting than other options, even when very young. The dots and spots books are much more engaging in our experience.
