Synopsis
A radical reinterpretation of the myth of Osiris and Isis. Humankind has misidentified the constellation Orion with the Egyptian god Osiris in Egyptian mythology. Rather, it is the star Canopus that is linked with Osiris, as identified by both ancient writers and early 20th century scholars. Canopus, for Egypt the South polar star, is the second-brightest star and interplays with Sirius in such a way that ancient accounts surmised that the two stars controlled time. It was the navigators star, allowing access to the afterlife: the domain of Osiris. Canopus was specifically identified with Osirus' Ark, where he was transformed from mere mortal to resurrected supergod. Canopus was therefore literally a stargate, where men could communicate with and aspire to become gods - and enter into other dimensions. This book will reveal what the Egyptians actually believed about: what happened to the soul after death; how they coded this knowledge into their mythology; how ancient accounts and modern physics use the same symbolism to describe the structure of the universe, the playground of the Egyptian gods and the souls of the deceased; ...and how the Canopus myth is linked to the Grail legend and to alchemy, revealed here for the first time.

A New Look at an Old Star5
This is a brave book. As if it were not risky enough to challenge the accepted established scientific Egyptological paradigm the author of 'The Canopus Revelation' has taken a long and incisive re-examination of the modern 'alternative' interpretations of Ancient Egypt. As a sceptical reader of modern writers such as Bauval and Hancock I found this book to be a thought-provoking breathe of very fresh air.

The Author, Phillip Coppens, has applied himself dilligently to the facts and has unearthed what must be one of the most startling re-examinations of Egyptian stellar lore of recent times. The main thread of his argument, that we should radically re-establish our understanding of Ancient Egyptian stellar lore, is based upon his belief that Canpous held an equally important role in Egyptian belief to Sirius - a fact that has been sadly over-looked by Egyptologists due to the star not being visible in the Northern Hemisphere. Not only an our understanding of the Egyptian culture open to question but also all offshoots from the Osirian legends, such as Freemasonry for example, - ideas which may cause many traditional occultists heart palpatations!

I thoroughly recommend this book. It takes a couple of reads to digest the main thesis because it is so new but it is a very satisfying insight into man's esoteric connection to the universe and the mythological themes that even today play through our lives.
