Manufacturer's Description
Created to speed up ironing from start to finish, GC7230 is ready to use in 2 minutes. Pressurised steam power speeds up ironing by penetrating deeper into the fabric, and the extra large water filling funnel allows fast & easy refills anytime.

Thanks to the high pressure of up to 4 bars, the steam penetrates deep into fabrics, giving exceptionally fast results even on difficult fabrics. The powerful steam of upto 80g/min helps to efficiently remove all creases.

The Unique steam tip combines a particularly pointed form of the soleplate with special steam slots in the tip to reach into the smallest and most difficult areas for the best ironing results.

The Steam Trigger lock allows the user to have continuous steam without having to press the trigger continuously and the specially designed soleplate combines superior gliding on all fabrics and carefully designed vents for powerful crease removal.

Time and effort saving wonder.5
As my wife says, "It's Fantastic, every woman (or person who does the ironing) should have one!"
Of course you could say that about any steam generator iron and incase you don't know the advantages of one here they are:-

1. The iron itself is much lighter than a conventional iron as the water and heating elements are elseware so it's much easier on the wrists.

2. It considerably shortens the time taken to do your ironing, because the steam power guarantees you only needing to iron one side, often with only one pass.

3. This one will go for 45mins to an hour before needing a refil, which can be done without switching it off or losing steam pressure.

All that steam power comes at the cost of using your electric faster (2200w) but as it's faster to work the running costs can be less than a normal iron.

As for this iron in particular, the Philips is well made, well finished, comes with extras (like tank level indicator lights) normaly seen on more expensive models and is simple to use.

A Quality Product at an Excellent price.5
We did extensive research for a replacement after our previous Lidl system eventually failed after 5 years reliable service. WHICH rated this Number One for performance by a substantial margin and Amazons price swayed us to go for it. After 2 months we are delighted. Dont be put off by the relatively small water capacity, this is fully compensated for by the RAPID reheat cycle-four times faster than our old system! It's light and compact for storage and seems very well put together. Next review in 4 years time!

A Very Reliable Product Making Ironing a Breeze5
We have had this iron nearly a year now, and are still very happy with it. It irons well with minimal effort - you have to remember not to press hard on what you are ironing if you are used to a non-steam iron. With an initial fill of water it lasts long enough for four very large men's shirts if you use the steam function continuously (about 20 minutes). Even when you refill it, the iron is almost instantly (in about 10 seconds) ready to go again.

My minor quibbles relate to the situation where the generator is positioned on the floor rather than on the ironing board.

First, this I do not believe is limited to this iron, the steam coming out of the iron seems to gradually weaken. This is only understandable given it has to come up the length of the cord, but would have been nice if steam power was consistent throughout the ironing process. Prior to changing the ironing board to Brabantia 110x30 Green Spring Ironing Board, we had a larger board that accommodated the generator and had never had this weakening steam problem. However, it still has enough power to iron well.

Second, the calc cleaning knob easily catches the cord connecting the iron with the generator while ironing. It can get annoying, but after some experiments I can now avoid the problem by strategically placing it under the ironing board.

As I said above, these two issues are minor and do not, in my view, warrant being dismissed from consideration for purchase.

Cleaning is easy, though I did not do it until very recently when some brown mess came out of the iron. Serves me right for not cleaning it more often!

All in all, it is a very reliable product and I would recommend it to anyone.
