Customer Reviews
First foray into Blu ray
I had been looking around for a while for a Blu ray player to go with a Samsung LCD TV and had initially wanted to stay with Samsung for the commonality of remote etc.
But having read positive reviews of this player on a good few sites and Amazon's cracking price I opted to go for this one.
The unit is nice and compact and looks high quality. Plugged the HDMI lead (not supplied# into this and the TV, a patch cable #not supplied# to my router and a memory stick #not supplied) for BD Live features. The setup process was straight forward and done in minutes. You need the internet connection and external storage if you want to use the BD Live on some disks. Also the memory stick socket is in the back so it's just as well to put one in when setting up, they recommend 1GB minimum.
Without any further setting up the Samsung TV and Sony player recognised each other and as soon as the disk went in the TV switched input and displayed up 1080p 24fps. Also you can program the Sony remote to work the on/off and volume on most mainstream TV brands so you can leave the TV remote on the shelf.
Watched a few films so far and the detail/definition is WOW, as good as they make it out to be, I have not felt compelled to fiddle with any settings at all.
The level of detail on buildings on sweeping landscape scenes and close up shots of peoples faces is incredible.
CGI animation such as Star Wars - The Clone Wars is so defined, no fuzzy edges also just as impressive.
Worth every penny if you have shelled out for a HDTV!
BluRay cures the blues
At 82 I thought it was time to see what all the fuss about BluRay and HD was really about. I oredered the Sony BDPS360B and in usual Amazon service it was with me extraordinarily quickly. I set about unpacking and being a technophobe was wary about setting it up. It was easy and the instructions actually made sense. Very soon I was able to watch an old holiday DVD of mine. Who were these people with crystal clear faces and how long had I had those wrinkles!!
When I purchased a BluRay disc and played that I thought my lounge was being invaded by wildlife - so good was the reproduction. Why did I have to wait 82 years to witness this and what's next for me?
Great Blu-Ray
After looking for some time for a Blu-Ray player (my first) I almost bought the 350 model, but I took so long to decide that the 360 came out first. I am so pleased to have purchased this player, it is excellent, Blu-Ray movies are exceptional and upscaling is far better than I could have hoped for.
I read reports on this unit from American sites who had this player first, and was almost put off by too much "anorak" talk. Do not listen, if you want a player that does the job, plays DVD's in great quality, this is it.
Easy to set up and fast loading of Blu-ray films. I would recommend this player to anyone.
