Average customer review:Product Description
It is not only what we see but how we see that makes a difference. Peter Watson tackles the often delicate process of interpreting and capturing landscapes in photography. Watson's dialogue is as insightful as his images - challenging us to transform our gaze from that of the casual observer to a skilled artist 'painting with light'. Thus - with patience and a meticulous eye - fields, trees, mountains and rivers become a complex pattern of lines, shapes, colours and textures. This comprehensive guide offers an almost scientific approach to seizing creative opportunities in your photography. Years of experience have prepared Watson with a range of tools and techniques to 'read' the complex text of an environment.

Good technical information...
I have several books from this author. i find the technical information provided to be quite good and I enjoy the thought process behind the choices of filters etc. The down side though is that I find his photography VERY mediocre. I know he has a following in certain parts of the world but you really need to look at some of the other photographers in this area which are so much better in comparison. I have given the book 3 stars because the technical side of it will be of value to many and the book is printed well etc. But if you are looking for inspiration in the photos look elsewhere. i can safely say these are many of the most average "pro" photos I have ever seen. The book "Natural Wonders: A Panoramic Vision" was bought at the same time and THIS IS beautiful photography!
Landscape photography, and how to do it
This is a wonderful book, beautifully-made and extremely useful for any enthusiastic (as in - amateur) photographer who wishes to expand their knowledge of landscape photography.
After reading this book I found that I was looking at the countryside (for that is where I live) in a completely different way. Patterns formed, and themes presented themselves.
I can highly reccomend this book to anyone who wishes to add to their knowledge of this challenging kind of photography.
another five star for Peter Watson
This is another great book from this top class photographer, highly informative it deals with all aspects of Landscape photography, in an easy step by step guide. It takes in all the diffirent subject types i.e. trees forest & woodland, lakes rivers & waterfalls, coastal landscapes and many more and couples this with some excellent images throughout. All in all a must have for the beginner or advanced amateur, highly recommended.
