Customer Reviews
An excellent companion for any trip to NYC
I found this book really useful and an excellent companion on our recent trip to NYC. We also bought the Lonely Planet guide and hardly used it - it just didn't have the level of information or accuracy of reviews that the Time Out guide offers. Written by people who are clearly very familiar with the city (the friend we visited - a New Yorker - agreed with everything they had to say) it does not assume too much knowledge, for example about which streets are included in areas such as Tribeca or Noho, and makes everything pretty clear for the first-time visitor.
Only minor gripe is that the subway map was a bit too small to read on a moving train, but better maps are available from every subway station, so it wasn't a major problem. Restaurant and bar reviews were particularly good and spot-on, in our experience.
