    This is JUST A CRADLE-but I am glad I bought it.5
No, this is not a replacement for a damaged USB cable that you had with your Walkman.

This is just a cradle that can be used for charging and song transfer with cables supplied only with your walkman-so instead of plugging the cable into the bottom of your sony walkman, you plug the cable into the cradle, then stand your walkman on the cradle. This gives you two choices: charge from plug(supplied with walkman) or plug USB (supplied with Walkman) into PC to charge and transfer tracks through Sonicstage or Connect (both standard sony software, i prefer sonicstage).

So to make this clear to everyone: The only purpose of this cradle is for looks and the ability to stand the walkman up so it doesnt get scratched etc it does not give you any different functions. The only difference this product offers is a white glow until it has done the quick charge, if you dont want a white glow you can turn it off.

I put the cradle on the top of my pc, so when I get back home, I just pop it into the cradle and it charges- saves you looking for the stray usb cable each time. I think this product is a bit pricey for what it actually is. Sony used to bundle these cradles with the old Mini Disc walkmans they did. Shame you have to pay for this as an extra-but if like me you want your gadgets to look neat and stylish, and you want to avoid scratches or damage of leaving it on the floor or flat on a surface, then buy it.

    description should be more specific3
my original usb cable that came with the walkman was damaged, so bought one of these as the selling points include the statement "Data transfer from and synchronization with the PC."
the instructions that come with the cradle say this is only possible with the original usb cable that came with the walkman (which for anyone thinking of getting a walkman...aint cheap)
it does look to be a cool bit of kit...but if your looking for something to replace an original damaged usb cable and allow you to synch with a pc..its not gonna do it!!!

Neat, tidy and above all else very useful5
I like to have a tidy desk. I have to admit I'm a bit of a gadgety person. With my PDA, phone, wireless mouse thing etc etc the last thing I needed was another wire on the desk when not in use that I'd have to hunt down.

This unit is ace. It uses the transfer cable you got with your player in the back of it so that you can connect to the PC and comes with a seperate power line so you aren't drawing off your PC all of the time. It's got connectors so you can feed a line out to an external device such as a hi-fi or surround sound system.

Whilst your device is docked and charging a glow effect light is given off the base which goes out once the unit is fully charged. If you don't like this idea then there's a handy switch so you can overide the light.
