    Not enough from Sony...2
I bought this as a substitute for my standard ipod earphones that came with my 80gb classic ipod. Before I buy them I had a lot of doubts about which earphones should I get. I was really undecided between Sony MDREX32LP and Creative EP630. The creatives had great reviews but the Sony ones were not bad either. Once I had sony headphones before (which I loved), I decided to try the Sony's.I was disappointed...
It's true when they say "extreme bass". In fact, bass was all that I could hear. It's really massive and just blurs the rest of the sonic range. This caused unclarity on the treble an confusion on the mid frequencies. As a result of this extra bass I tried to alter the EQ of the ipod to amplify the treble. I think that is agreed that the EQ of the ipod is something that you really shouldn't touch, because most of the times it just distorts the sound, and makes it even worse. So, by trying to improve the sound by changing the EQ definitions was actually not a good sign. As I predicted, no improvement...
As far as the music's concern, I like it balanced. I think the treble has to be crystal clear without hurting your hears, the mid frequencies have to be gentle and "sweet", and the bass has to be punchy and with good extension, but not as overwhelming. I hate to admit it, but this earphones do not match my taste nor even what I expected from Sony. Although the ipod standard earphones provide poor quality sound, this Sony's aren't a serious upgrade.
Concluding, if you are a lover of bassy sound, or the kind of person who loves to put the levels of the subwoofer on the home cinema or car audio system on high standards, then you may like this earphones. On the other hand, if like to combine bass and treble with sense, and listen to music well balanced, I thing you should look elsewhere. As for me, I'm returning these, and give a try to the Creative's.

PS- In my opinion, the only good thing about this earphones is the comfort. I never had in-earphones and I was actually surprised by the comfort and isolation they provide. Of course this is a personal issue and depends on your hear shape and listening preferences.

    boosted bass3
I bought these because, in contrast to other headphones I was considering to replace the standard Apple ones with my ipod, the description made no mention of boosting the bass. I prefer straight sound both because I listen to a lot of classical music and because too much bass on pop music through earphones gives me earache! BUT they are in fact bass-boosted, and whilst detail can be good, the sound lacks transparency and presence. So I am disappointed.

    NOT !! what I expected from Sony1
Having purchased my first Ipod classic and discovering how poor the Apple earphones are I thought ..um Sony they make MP3 players they must make pretty good earphones as well and having read the reviews (mostly good) I opted for them ...WRONG..they are the worst earphones I have ever used..they sound as if I'm holding them 6" away from my ears..
I have tried (goodness knows I tried) all the suggestions found in the reviews at Amazon but unless I pushed them hard in to my ears (which hurts) they still sounded rubbish (oh and just before you say ..did you try the different sized buds ..yes I did) ..sorry Sony these in my opinion are absoloute rubbish and a waste of money..thank goodness for Amazon's return policy
