Great quality, superb sound, tiny remote
The quality of this product is fantastic. From the glossy finish to the deep base and clarity of sound. It can easily fill a 20x12 room with sound but is compact and can fit on a small surface. Easy to use and works well with IPOD Classic that I have. Only complaint is the remote which is tiny and if you lose it - your stuffed. Would have given it 4.5 stars if allowed.
Update Sept 2008.
i30 went bang and stopped working. Tannoy didn't really help passing me on to their only distributor who didn't respond. Fortunately I purchased from Amazon and they have agreed to a full refund - well done Amazon. I am disappointed because I liked the system, but it only got light use and so should have lasted more than 8 months. Now looking at alternatives.
Well worth 100 quid but not much more.
Took delivery today of my i30. The packaging is good and on opening the box you know this is a quality product. The unit feels solid and looks the business. One major benefit is that the transformer is built in to the unit (Bose don't photograph their unit with a power supply and wires next to it!!). The unit also has an audio in which is handy for connecting a radio supply (The Bose doesn't).
Forget the TV out. It doesn't work with 3rd gen iPODs.
Setup is a doddle as you would expect with an ipod dock. I can imagine it would look good with the wall mounts. Need to find out where to get them?!?
I do have an issue with the original sale price. This does give the impression that at 100 quid this would be an absolute steal at the price. Not quite so. I currently have the Bose dock and a JBL On Time. I was able to pit one against the other fairly easily. Unfortunately the Tannoy doesn't stand a chance against the Bose. The sound is comparatively flat with ill defined bass (I couldn't understand previous comments that bass is too heavy). That said I paid £210 for the Bose.
My advise is that there is still no Bose beater (unfortunately) but at under half the price the Tannoy is seriously good value just don't expect the Bose.
Really pleased
I'm really pleased with my Tannoy i30, I've played loads of different types or music through it and they all sound awesome to me. It does however benefit from being turned up to really get the best out of it, but I like my music loud so that's not a problem.
