Product Description

The master of horror returns with a new spine-tingling adventure in the fifth title of the Demonata!. "Locked inside Dervish's study. Breath coming quickly, raggedly. Trembling wildly. I still feel sick and dizzy, but maybe that's fear. I force myself to breathe normally, evenly. When I'm in control, I study my reflection, looking for telltale signs. Am I turning into a werewolf? I don't know!" Grubbs Grady has so far escaped the family curse, but when he begins to experience alarming symptoms at the onset of the full moon, he is scared that the jaws of fate are opening and about to swallow him whole. He has cheated death, defeated demons, moved on with his life. But Grubbs is torn between the world of magic and his wolfen genes. Can he fight the beast inside or will he fall victim to his tainted blood?

great horror series5
From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in some of the later episodes. Whoever is in charge you can absolutely guarantee a frightening ride through another world, which Shan depicts so very well. As far as teenage horror goes this is about as entertaining as it gets. You cannot compare it to the real horror masters, such as James Herbert, Shaun Hutson, Brian Keene or Conrad Jones, but they are truly entertaining, even though the storylines are flimsy to say the least, they are still excellent reading.

Blood Beast - not Darren Shan's strangest book yet4
This book is stranger than the others in the Demonata series as there are NO demons until the last chapter and then it finishes on a cliffhanger. What the hell is coming next is what is advertised for book 6 as; that is exactly what I was thinking. The book is about Grubbs, not Bec or Kernel, and is based on Grubbs battle against his family curse. It also describes his magic and a character from Slawter, book 3 , reappears. However different this book is from the others; It is still a very good book by an excellent author, however different it is.

The Master of Horror strikes with a vengence 5
I am a massive fan of alll of Darren Shans Books and this fith installment of 'The Demonata' series certainly did not dissappoint. The story returns to Grubbs, the initial narrator at the start of of the series 'Lord Loss' and who returns again in'Slawter' and how he struggles with the possibility of becoming a werewolf. I have read reviews stating that they were a little dissappointed with this book but I would have to dissagree. This book, in my opinion focuses more on the inner struggle of the central character-which I find very effective. Overall, the book is well written and captivaring. Recommended to anyone who enjoys fantasy/horror books.
