The best field guide yet
'Code of the Clans' is the third field guide to the 'Warriors' series, and is possibly the best yet.
At last, that mysterious Warrior Code is laid bare, one rule at a time, and given a thorough looking at, through the use of short stories which tell of it's origins, as well as a few funny/tragic/powerful examples of how that rule was used (or abused).
Again, as with the other field guides available, it isn't essential to the plot of the series. But! It does add richness and depth to the Warriors Universe, and if, like me, you found this Warrior Code sometimes bizarre and backward (why would Clans at war with each other live in such close quarters?), then this provides all the answers.
It also works as a handy collection of short stories, some of which will involve the characters we all know and love, but most are from the clans of bygone years, and you get this real impression of the warriors world stretching far back, way before Rusty first took his first steps Into The Wild.
As I said, this is the best field guide yet. Not the most fun, admittedly (nothing beats those brilliant Clan tours from 'Secrets of the Clans' - I felt like I was there!) but definitely the most interesting and enlightening. If you're a Warriors fan (and if not, why not?!) you should seriously consider getting this: it will give you a far better idea of how the Clans work and think, and will make the main series seem so much richer and deeper.
Oh, and there's a BIG revelation regarding a certain cat...
