Bringing it all together
This is a good, clear book, showing how to build and manage portfolios of change.
I would highly recommend it even if you are not using MSP or PRINCE2; it contains a lot of well structured rigour and plain common sense.
As the author suggests it will be of most value and of greatest use to those managing change in large, complex organisations.
If you are managing smaller, more discrete change you won't need this.
Excellent value and guidance
I think this book has much going for it. It is a sensible pragmatic view of what portfolios have come to mean over the last few years and how to manage their establishment and running.
APM, PMI and OGC have all produced portfolio management guidance recently but this is an excellent grounding and gives a firm foundation on which the more detailed stuff from other sources can be built.
I rate this book very highly and, when read in conjunction with other advice, provides an excellent set of clear guidelines to run major portfolios of change in any larger organisation.
