Great book, but share too much with others in the serie
The book itself is a really good one, explaining basic techniques clearly and fully. A good starting point for beginners, and for amateurs who feel the need of a better approach to photography.
But too much material - text, images - is the same found in the other books in the "Essential skill" series, making far less useful to have more than one book.

A very worthwhile book to own
One of the "Essential Skills" series, which is a series of very well laid out books with a clear step by step approach to each subject, coupled with examples, activities to try out, and assignments. Included are gallerys which give an inspiration into what can be achieved, along with recommended further reading.
