An inspiration for a fit, healthy and for-filling life!4
I think that Jillian Michaels is a wonderful inspiration to getting (or keeping) yourself healthy, active and fit. Making the Cut is full of all the information you need to know for a great body and changed mental attitude, her inspirational words help your mind focus on what is right and true for you and she really does help look and feel good on the inside as well as the outside.

The workouts are intense and really what I needed to loose those last few pounds. The reason that this is a 4* product for me is that the diet program is a little bit difficult converting all the America products to UK equivalents and for me (who is a balanced oxidizer) the diet didn't incorporate as many fruits and vegetables as I would normally like to eat. Additionally, the circuits sometimes end in Cardio workouts which involve a sprint for 60 secs, which unless you have your own treadmill at home (or a massive back-garden) can be tricky to do, also some of the strength moves are to be used with gym equipment. Another product which I would recommend for those who only have a mat and some weights is the 30 Day Shred DVD, as it has virtually the same exercises as in Making The Cut (although only a 20 min workout) which is easily done at home.

She stresses the need to a certain percentage of protein/carbs/fat for your body type, although I had to look elsewhere for the calculations to get the exact number of grams I needed to eat. I think that you certainly need to use this book with a cals/carb/fat/protein guide if you want to stick to the amounts rigidly as this book does not provide enough nutritional information. Unless of course you are able to follow her plan rigidly.

So all in all, I found the book really informative and great for my mental outlook with a intensive workout plan, however it is more geared towards the America market and therefore I found it difficult to follow the diet unconditionally, but there are ways to work around it.

Making the Cut - The best in ages5
A very intense workout is offered however you are able to go at your own pace and work up to what is required.

A no nonsense approach, exciting, brilliant. Not for the faint hearted though. The fitness test allows the reader to gauge their fitness before starting the workout. If you're below a certain fitness level you are advised to work up to a set standard first. Improvement in fitness levels are quick to see.

Good as a supplement to Fitness videos. Pretty comprehensive advice on diet, exercise and balancing it all out in a busy life. It requires some equipment and a lot of self-discipline, although the book addresses this very well to keep you motivated. In the end, that is what often makes the whole difference: a proper decision and then the will to follow it through. Recommended as a good-to-read advice book which can last you for longer than 30 days, definitely!
