Editorial Reviews
From the Author
Third graders love hearing Wayside School
Each year I read aloud the Wayside School books. Sometimes I change the name of the characters to one of the kids in my class. We have alot of fun with the stories. We chose to feature L. Sachar during Children's Book Week this Year. He really turns the kids on to literature!
Customer Reviews
Louis Sachar uses alot of imagination in his books.
I think it took alot of work to write this book. I liked the way Chapter 19 was really short because there really was no 19th story, because there is no 19th story in the school building. That was clever! And I would like to try an ice cream flavor named Nancy!
Modern childrens stories
Fed up with Enid Blyton? These are modern children's stories in every sense - stories that children can relate to (well, they may not all go to school in a building 30 stories high!), written in an irreverent style but also (for this adult at least) refreshingly different. All this and educational and amusing too!
All stories are really short (3-10 pages) which is perhaps the only downside.
Very Clever
I read this book about 6 times when I wasi n 4th grade. I still love it today. Louis Sachar is a great author.
