The edge of the Sea
I felt that this book was very interesting because it explained and gave details about something that I have seen many times but took no time to look at and analyze. Rachel Carson tells about different creatures and reefs along the ocean and how these differ from place to place. Carson also drew pictures of all different species of starfish, crabs, barnacles and reefs and tells of where they are found. I found these illustrations helpful because they put an image in my head of what they look like so the next time i go to the beach I can look for them. The only complaint that I have about the book is that it drags on and there is alot of good information but also alot of useless information. With this aside I feel that the book was very well written and informative. I found the book funny because Ive gone to the ocean many times and I failed to notice that there are so many living things all around me and Carson tells of all these creatures and that fascinates me. One part of the book I found the most interesting is when she is explaining tidal pools and how there are so many organisms crambed into these pools. All the organisms thrive off of the other ones. Tidal pools are always changing due to tides coming in and out so new species are coming into the pools as well as species leaving so there is constant changing happening.

All in all I liked this book because it points out all the things that Ive over looked all these years, the tiny organisms in tidal pools to different species of crab and starfish etc. I learned more from this book then I have from any other book Ive read.
