Editorial Reviews

Guardian
Most of Sandford's Davenport thrillers have been bestsellers -- deservedly so, for these are taut and elegant tales

Customer Reviews

On form4
If you've never read a Lucas Davenport crime novel, the good news is that you jump in anywhere you like. Each book is self-contained, with a relationships and politics spanning the series with little effect on the main stories. Hidden Prey is a great place to start.

It's a well driven plot, with twists and turns, great new characters and is compulsive reading. As ever, the body count rises and Lucas, our sarcastic and beloved hero, is clearly on form. If anyone throught the series was stale than this is a sign that Sandford knows how to reenergise an old formula and can inject life in to Lucas's aging bones yet. There are moments of great humour as well as suspense, a page turner until the end.

An ice-cool pro4
Another accomplished entry in Sandford's 'Prey' novels from an author who rarely disappoints, indeed the series featuring detective Lucas Davenport ranks among the finest in modern crime writing. Lean, economical and as ice-cool as a Minneapolis winter, this novel won't disappoint fans, and is a perfect introduction to Sandford and his hard-bitten cop hero.

Is the Cold War Still Alive ?4
This is the first John Sandford book that I have read. The story is about a dead Russian being found on the shore of Lake Superior, a female lawyer who is down and out living on the streets, a group of russian imigrants that left their homeland a number of years previous, A Russian police officer or is she KGB ? Add to that our hero Lucas Davenport and put them all in the pot and stir well. Result ? A cracking good story that will keep you involved right to the end.
