From the Author
Fast results safely, without deprivation!
From Amanda Ursell's review in the Times (2/14/99): "This book is the best I have come across in ages...so jam packed with excellent advice, it's hard to do it justice. Suffice to say that it provides all women, whatever size, age, or lack of fitness, with the inspiration to get back into shape. The diet is realistic, the goals achievable and the plan easy to follow...If you're serious about losing weight and keeping it off, you owe it to yourself to invest in this book."
Scientific research has shown that strength training powers weight loss in four ways:
#1: Increases metabolism by up to 15%, because muscle (unlike fat) is active tissue that burns calories.
#2: Trims and tightens, because muscle is more compact than fat.
#3: Makes aerobic exercise easier - when you're stronger, you have more energy and it's more fun to move.
#4: Helps women feel better about themselves.
Marilyn Monroe and other celebrities learned this secret from their personal trainers. Now, Strong Women Stay Slim offers a practical program that any woman can follow - the book has all the information and how-to instructions you need. Here's what to expect when you follow this program: You'll feel stronger, more energetic and vital almost immediately. And after just 10 weeks of easy, painless changes, you'll be astonished at how far you've come.

Customer Reviews
Don't bother unless you're a complete novice
I was very disappointed by this book. I bought it following a five-star review in a fitness magazine I subscribe to, but it doesn't contain anything I haven't already read a hundred times. If you're interested in fitness, and have read other books or magazines or are already following an exercise programme, then it won't tell you anything you don't already know. The exercises are very basic, very limited (only six main exercises are given) and are only really suitable for someone who's never picked up a weight in their lives. For anyone looking to take their existing workout programme up a level, this book is useless.
Starts you off on the right track
Inspirational book which reinforces what you already knew deep down. Healthy eating and exercise will make you slim. I found it a bit light on the exercises as there are only a few shown and I was soon looking for other books to add to the repertoire. That said, it has started me off. Not aimed at the athlete, just at "normal" women.
A useful motivation tool
Anyone who is emabarking on exercise or weight loss programmes should read this !! Full of common sense and useful tips, as well as a sensible diet and exercise plans.
