Synopsis
It seemed like any other accident, which happens thousands of times across the cities and towns, which make up America. But, this one on Highway 44 in St. Louis, Missouri was much different. So, different in fact, it changed the world. St. Louis, population 3 million, the gateway to the west. But, within, its city limits is the home of drug companies seduced by vast profits. A population and a world unprepared for what happens next. Unleashed without warning; an unknown chemical which when exposed causes the dead to rise and destroy the living. The results; a horrifying quick outbreak, which spares no one it encounters. Populations devastated, as the creatures destroy all semblance of society. Left over, the aftermath is a realm that is molded after the new ruling species. Aftermath of the Dead concerns the plight of what happens to the residents of St. Louis. The story of how the residents are forced to deal with and somehow survive this new reality. Deep inside themselves, people have the same sense, that there is no way in which to overcome the creatures!

Aftermath of the dead; Or Before I learnt to write2
I started reading this book with anticipation, expecting a raw style and fast paced story line as indicated by other reviews.
What I got was the same scene repeated throughout the book, albeit with different characters playing the part.

However what was more annoying and frustrating was the grammar, punctuation and spelling mistakes. In many instances missing words out completely that made nonsense of a whole paragraph or scene.
This wasn't just a one off event; the entire book was riddled with them and, as the book progress's, it like the proof reader had given up signed the book off and gone for a pint or five.

I'm a Zombie fiction fan and I would not recommend this book in its current unfinished state to anyone. If they sort the errors out, I would say read it, but don't expect a Stephen King or a Brian Keene.

Such a shame!1
This really could have been a reasonable story, if only an adult had written it!

This book must have been written by an adolescent (in my opinion). It is not just badly punctuated, it is so badly written that a great deal of it makes no sense even when you remove the superfluous commas and full stops.

The constant descriptions of bite sizes are boring, as is the lack of continuity. For instance, there is one scene where 'Lance' is watching the news on tv, together with 'Leah', his girlfriend, and having taken in the hideous news, he calls 'Leah' over to see it for herself! Why? She was apparently standing there with him already.

My final gripe with this book is it's title, emphasis on 'Aftermath' , the synopsis even proclaims that the story concerns the aftermath. IT DOES NOT! It is a story thet takes you from an accident at 11.30am, which causes the whole sorry process, to a couple hiding in a freezer just 6 hours later! The only aftermath is a one page epilogue dated 3 days later.

I sure hope that he does not write a sequel.

If you really love zombies, and just have to see for yourself, then buy the book (as cheaply as possible), but do not expect much.

great book...edited by kids?4
As an undead fan I was eager to read this book. Within the first few pages you are thrown into the explosive action immediatley. Descriptions of the undead and their violent killing episodes etc. are very well written with lots of gory detail. What I really like about the book was the way it was written. It's almost written as though it's in the first person or the present tense. This helps you understand the chaos that is happening all around and it feels somewhat real!! However, the punctuation etc. within the book is very poor! Lots of spelling mistakes, inverted comma's that enclose text descriptions as well as speech and so many inapropriatly placed comma's!!! Some sentences have so many comma's you can't read it properly and some are split by a full stop for no reason. Sometimes you have to re-read a passage and edit it yourself. All in all a very good book with a great story. The downside is the editing. Those who finalised the book and let these mistakes go through should be sacked on the spot! Don't let this put you off. It is very well done, you just have to take your time reading it!
