Nay sayers, begone!!! What's cooler than a bundt cake jello mold, or choking your bbq guests with gawdy pearls? You'll read this, have a laugh, and then go to a bar with your favorite social outcast, just waiting for midgets and wolfmen to serve you Hot Dog on a Stick.

Like Julia Slavin's book, another over-hyped debut from yet another self-consciously precocious fiction workshop. Give it a rest--get out of school and go out and live, and maybe you'll write better...

Stacey Richter's non-stop, in-your-face velocitous prose is an exhausting trip through the mind of the modern teenage shopaholic. Brand names become stand-ins for biblical and literary references. Watch any X-Gen sitcom, and you've got the flavor and pace of Ms. Richter's stories. Recommended strongly for the tonguetip-activated brain of the late 90's.
