Starting from scratch, simply by picking stocks and companies for investment, Warren Buffett amassed an astonishing fortune - a net worth of $64 billion and counting. His awesome investment record has made him a cult figure popularly known for his seeming contradictions: a billionaire with a modest lifestyle, a phenomenally successful investor who eschews the revolving-door trading of modern Wall Street, a brilliant dealmaker who cultivates a homespun aura. Journalist Roger Lowenstein draws on three years of unprecedented access to Buffett's family, friends and colleagues to provide this definitive inside account of the life and career of this American original. He explains Buffett's investment strategy - a long-term philosophy grounded in buying stock in companies that are undervalued on the market and hanging on until their worth invariably surfaces - and shows how it is a reflection of the character of the man himself. And in a brand new afterword, in the wake of the news that Buffett has decided to give the bulk of his fortune to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Lowenstein reflects on the largest charitable donation in American history.

Buffett Revealed
"Buffett" is a biography of one of the most important and successful people in the business world. Buffett's life is a story of success of the most impressive kind, not a single lucky hit but a career going in stages mostly (but not always!) from one victory to another. One would be quite irrational to miss an opportunity to take a closer look at what made him the person he is and what made his success so huge.
This book offers a very decent and detailed overview of Buffett's biography. Over 500 pages of nicely presented data from the life of the great investor, some of which you will certainly find rather surprising. I have heard of people paying thousands of dollars to lunch with Buffett (which, apart from being rather funny reveals a less known face of Mr B - the money from the auction went to charity as did most of his private money) so investing a few quid (and a few evenings, it takes time to get through this bulky volume) sounds like a fairly reasonable investment in times when reasonable investmens seem few and far between.
Lessons To Learn From the Greatest Investor
As someone who is lucky enough to have recently semi-retired having made fruitful and well-planned financial investments(and hopefully more in the future), reading this book was still insightful. I was much surprised to read that Warren Buffet holds many of the principles of life that I believe in - not least that having faith in your instincts is the most important ally you will ever have.
