CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM: THE BOOK is the much-anticipated and official companion volume to the hit TV show, rapidly gaining currency as one of the classics of modern comedy. The brainchild of Larry David, CURB's five seasons have gained legions of fans on both sides of the Atlantic, simultaneously aghast and delighted at the world in which LD makes most of the people around him, and frequently himself, miserable during the pursuit of his own happiness. CURB: THE BOOK is a fascinating account of ingenious improvisational comedy in the making. With unprecedented access to the set, the book provides a compelling picture of how things go from bad to worse in Larry David's Los Angeles, and represents a wonderful insight into the show for fans: full of episode summaries, transcripts and backstage gossip. It also features original interviews with the show's stars, including LD himself, and the many guest stars, as well as unique insights into the storyboarding of this improvised show. With reproductions of Larry David's original scene outlines, readers get to trace the actual evolution of classic scenes from "real life" to the cutting room. CURB: THE BOOK is a lovingly crafted tribute to each of Larry David's most outrageous routines -- their origins, inspirations, development, and fruition.

Thorough guide to one of TV's greatest comedies...oh, and Larry David too
Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Book is an insightful guide into the mind of comic genius Larry David, through extensive interviews with both the man himself and his family, friends and co-stars. These interviews help to broaden our knowledge of Larry's work, and show that several of the incidents which he has been involved in (such as quitting his writer's job on Saturday Night Live, instantly regretting this as he needed the money, then showing up for work the following Monday as if nothing had happened) have ended up on our TV screens.
The author, Deirdre Dolan, was correct on maintaining the focus on Larry throughout this book, as without him there would be no "Curb" - he truly is the driving force behind the show's success, and this book reinforces that fact. A useful guide to the five seasons which have been produced (so far) puts emphasis on trivia, anecdotes and excerpts from the episode scripts, rather than just giving a potted description of what happened in each episode. This book is a thorough guide to both the man and the show, with even a two-page feature on the houses in which the fictional Davids have lived, and storyboards for the season four finale "Opening Night". An excellent purchase!
I Know My Sources
A friend gave me this book for Christmas knowing my love for the series, I was hesitant usually these books are just all the scripts printed out and are boring to read. This is very much not that book. Mind you as comes across when reading this it's because there is no script.
It does act as an episode guide but with just a very brief synopsis it instead lists some trivia and ancedotes about each episode.
The real meat of the book lies in the interviews Larry David excels here really giving a huge insight into how Curb came about the casting process and the improvising. Liked the different ideas for the title of the show
Indeed this book shows exactly what is written on the "script" and then shows what actually got said this shows just how improvised the whole show is. The interview with Cheryl imeediately preceeds an interview with larry david's real wife.
If you love the series and are frustrated about the alck of really good extras on the DVDs then this is definately a book for you if you are the sort of person who watches the programme but has no desire to know how it is put together and how he dreams up his ideas then it's not for you.
Reading this book it's easy to see how people confuse the character with the man maybe more so that any other show I can think of
Wonderful that such a funny intelligent TV programme should produce such a funny intelligent book.
While you're peeing all over your shoes im learning my friend
As the companion to what surely must be a contender for sitcom of the decade this book really delivers. Detailing the story arc, trivia and highlights of every episode of the series so far. The book is interspersed with interviews with those who know Larry best as well as all the key figures behind Curb. The book also displays just how key improvisation is in the creation of Curb, showing an example from each season of the scene outline that the actors are presented with, alongside a transcription of the dialogue the actors employ in the final cut. Curb Your Enthusiasm the book provides a rare insight into the world of Larry David, his methods of working, and the sources of his inspiration.
