Product Description

Life is very much what we make it, and since most of us spend the greater part of our lives at work, it follows that we should be making the best of our working lives. This book demonstrates that anyone can achieve greater satisfaction in both their home life and their job by learning to integrate business, social and personal fulfilment. It includes: seven ways to peace and happiness - fundamental techniques for handling people - ways to win people to your way of thinking - ways to change people without giving offence or arousing resentment. Dale Carnegie isolates and explores the feelings of harmony, excitement and purpose that will enable us to transcend boredom, frustration and fatigue - making the best of our inner resources and realising our full potential.

Customer Reviews

A good book but...4
As with all Dale Carnegie books (at least the ones I've read!), the advice is excellent and presented in a well structured and entertaining way, but my only reservation about this book (and the reason it is 4 stars rather than 5), is that it is basically just a combination of chapters from two of his other books.

If you have already bought 'How to win friends and influence people' and 'How to stop worrying and start living', then it's pointless buying this book as is just a collection of chapters from those two titles.

'Seven Ways to Peace and Happiness' is extracted from 'How to stop worrying and start living' and 'Fundamental techniques in handling people', 'Ways to win people to your way of thinking' and 'Ways to change people without giving offense or arousing resentment', are extracted from 'How to win friends and influence people.'

If you are considering buying a Dale Carnegie book for the first time, I would recommend that you buy the aforementioned two titles, rather than this title. The principles and advice contained in those books are excellent and have really opened my eyes to human relations. I've often kicked myself, reading through the book, when recognising texbooks errors I have made in the past!

Very interesting read so far...5
Prior to buying this book I read the review about how this was a combination of texts from other Carnegie books and so far this as been of benefit to me as an introduction to his work.

Having been written in the late 1930's onwards the style and reference points gives the reader a glimpse into how people's lives went on in those days and it has been the best bit for me. I would recommend that you add to your collection by looking into authors such as Richard Templar, if you want to get a broad view.

If you're new to Carnegie's work this book could be a good way to find out if you want to buy the others. Personally, I think this is good enough for me to get the author's message.

Inspiring5
A really interesting read. Inspiring, simple, interesting, thought provocking are all words that spring to mind. Definately worth a read!
