Product Description

A striking beauty with a taste for diamonds and dangerous men, Drea Rousseau was once content to be arm candy for Rafael Salinas, a notorious crime lord. Then, when he loans her to a cold-blooded assassin as payment, Drea makes a fateful decision and a desperate move to escape, stealing a mountain of cash from the malicious killer. Though Drea runs, Salinas knows she can't hide - and dispatches the same assassin in hot pursuit. Left for dead, Drea miraculously returns to the realm of the living a changed woman. Both humbled and thrilled with this unexpected second chance, she embraces her new life. But in order to feel safe and sound, and stop nervously looking over her shoulder, she will need to take down the man who marked her for death, even if it means joining forces with the most dangerous - but most enticing - man she's ever known...

Customer Reviews

Wish I could give it 4-and-a-half stars.....4
I deliberately did not buy this book, as LH's last effort in hardback, Up Close And Dangerous had me wondering if she had in fact written it - it was boring, there was no suspense and I could not engage with either lead. I got a copy from my library, and proceeded to read it in its entirety in about 2hrs. It was a real return-to-form for LH - a good storyline, hot sex (boy, has she been reading erotica, I wonder?!) and a strong female lead. The only reason I have not given it a 5* rating is that the way in which the characters are described - he is an assassin for hire to the highest bidder, and she makes her way in life by living off men, and ultimately admits that she has whored herself - make them a little unlikeable (the resume is brutal in making the female lead seem unlikeable). However, they tie in very well with the story and their romance is credible without being mushy and sentimental. I do think they deserved each other, and that they would end up happy together, but I like my stories containing a romance to be romantic, rather than with people forced together by circumstances. Still, it was a good read, and a VAST improvement on her last effort.

Don't Buy, go to the Library2
As Linda Howards last couple of books were so mediocre I didn't buy this book I borrowed it from the library and still thought I had been done on the 60p reservation charge. I have enjoyed most of her previous books, but both of the character's in this book didn't raise any feelings for them from me, they were just cardboard chartacter's. The story could have been so much better. Read Heart of Fire or Son of the Morning and see the difference.

CHALLENGE4
I read the reviews but bought the book anyway and I am very glad, I liked the twist of the victim and killer and I liked her 'killer' very much. Both characters had depth and I was happy with the ending.
