The Structural Engineer's Pocket Book is the only compilation of all tables, data, facts and formulae needed for scheme design by structural engineers in a handy-sized format. Bringing together data from many sources into a compact, affordable pocketbook, it saves valuable time spent tracking down information needed regularly.
This new and improved edition has been updated throughout, expanding previous chapters and reflecting changes to the British Standards, as well as including a whole new section on Sustainability covering general concepts, materials, actions and targets for structural engineers.
Although small in size, this book contains the facts and figures needed for preliminary design whether in the office, on-site or in the IStructE Part 3 Exam. Based on UK conventions, the Structural Engineer?s Pocket Book is split into 14 sections including geotechnics, structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
* Time-saving, affordable, first-point-of-reference for structural and civil engineers
* Brings together data from many sources into a compact, easy-to-use format
* On-the-job rules of thumb to design specifications

Essential Structural Reference Book
I have been a structural engineer for 2 years now and I had to refer back to the different codes many times a day for simple questions, now I use this book instead. Also, since I bought it into the office everyone else in the office has got their own one.
a brilliant little book
this book has been a life saver for me since i bought it. i have just started work as a structural engineer and for the first couple of months i did nothing but annoy my fellow workers by continually asking them questions and seeking their advice. since getting this book i have had to ask far fewer questions and thus my co-workers have received a well earned break from me. i no longer recive death stares from them and all in all the world is a much happier place.
Good in theory, but poorly executed
I would tend to agree with the other reviews on this book. However, when put to practice there are numerous typographical errors that change the fundamental meaning of many of the tables and equations leaving the reader in doubt over their validity. This book could really do with a second edition, following a comprehensive proof read and check!
